What a season! A long cold frost hit in late Spring, and one of our pipes that delivered water to the frost fighting sprinklers burst, resulting in a large patch of frosted young shoots. However, settled weather during flowering allowed excellent fruit set. Very warm summer and autumn days with cool nights followed, ideal for the grapes, allowing the retention of good acidity which is essential for creating elegant wines that will go the distance. Harvest kicked off early April, the fruit quality was excellent, with a slightly lighter crop due to the frost, and was delivered to Matt in the winery to work his magic on! We know the French make rosé in a style that perfectly complements their summer climate and cuisine. Matt has made us the Central Otago version. Perfect summer drinking on its own or paired with food. Serve slightly chilled.
